About the Role
We are partnering with a general contractor delivering large‑scale commercial, education, pharmaceutical and healthcare construction projects across the Mid-West. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced MEP Superintendent to lead on high‑value, technically complex projects for projects based in Chicago. This is a senior field leadership role overseeing high‑voltage power infrastructure, low‑voltage systems, and coordinated MEP execution within fast‑paced, zero‑downtime environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all MEP field operations on education and healthcare projects from mobilization through commissioning and turnover
- Oversee installation and commissioning of high‑voltage and medium‑voltage systems, including substations, switchgear, generators, UPS, and power distribution
- Provide hands‑on supervision of low‑voltage systems, including BMS, EPMS, security, fire alarm, and structured cabling
- Coordinate closely with MEP trade partners, commissioning agents, inspectors, engineers, and client representatives
- Manage multiple electrical & mechanical superintendents, foremen, and large union/non‑union workforces
- Drive strict adherence to safety, quality control, QA/QC, and mission‑critical best practices
- Maintain schedule compliance through lookahead planning, manpower forecasting, and material coordination
- Act as the primary electrical point of contact on site for owners, GCs, and AHJs
Required Experience & Background
- Proven experience as a Superintendent on local school, university, K-12 and education construction project types
- Demonstrated experience delivering low‑voltage system installations (BMS, EPMS, security, FA, structured cabling)
- Deep understanding of power distribution, redundancy, commissioning, and turnover requirements
- Experience working alongside or coordinating full MEP scopes strongly preferred
- Ability to manage large crews across multiple buildings or phases
- Familiarity with tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, BIM/VDC platforms
- Willingness to work in Chicago
