MEP Superintendent
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with preconstruction teams to review design documents and identify constructability, coordination, and sequencing issues early in the project lifecycle.
- Participate in MEP coordination meetings and BIM model reviews to ensure accurate system layout and clash resolution.
- Develop detailed MEP scopes of work, logistics plans, and manpower schedules that align with overall project milestones.
- Review and support submittals and equipment procurement schedules to ensure materials and equipment meet specifications and arrive in line with project timelines.
- Oversee and coordinate all MEP trade partners to ensure proper installation, site safety, and adherence to quality standards.
- Verify that all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, low-voltage, and fire protection systems are installed in accordance with design documents, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Manage MEP start-up, testing, commissioning, and turnover processes in collaboration with trade partners and commissioning agents.
- Lead daily coordination meetings to ensure seamless integration between MEP activities and architectural and structural work.
- Maintain strong, professional relationships with trade partners, vendors, and client representatives to support smooth project execution.
- Aid in resolving field conflicts and technical issues through proactive problem-solving and coordination with design and construction teams.
- Monitor labor productivity, equipment utilization, and material deliveries for MEP scopes to maintain efficiency and support cost control.
- Coordinate with project management on change orders, RFIs, and cost tracking related to MEP scopes of work.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement on the job site.
Essential Skills
- 4–8 years of construction experience, preferably with mission critical, data center, or technically complex projects for a general contractor.
- Demonstrated experience with commissioning of UPS systems and switchgear in a data center or mission critical environment.
- Strong experience in electrical construction, including low-voltage systems, and coordination with mechanical and plumbing trades.
- Hands-on experience in managing or supervising mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems on large commercial projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation, reporting, and schedule or cost tracking.
- Proficiency with Procore and Bluebeam for construction management, drawing review, and project coordination.
- Strong understanding of construction documents, scheduling principles, cost management, and field operations.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead meetings, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and clearly convey technical information.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to resolving field and coordination issues.
- Able to prioritize tasks effectively and maintain project schedules in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing documentation, schedules, and quality control.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working on data center or other mission critical facilities with complex MEP and low-voltage systems.
- General contractor experience overseeing multiple trade partners and large-scale MEP scopes.
- Familiarity with energy-efficient systems and best practices in mission critical environments.
- Experience in construction management or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with trade partners, vendors, and clients.

Work Environment
This role is based out of an office in the Sterling, VA area and involves regular on-site presence at data centers in the Manassas and Leesburg areas, as well as periodic travel to additional data center sites across the country as project needs require. You will work in active construction environments that include large mechanical and electrical equipment, UPS systems, switchgear, and other mission critical infrastructure. The position involves frequent interaction with project managers, field teams, trade partners, vendors, and client representatives in both office and field settings.
