About the Role

Provide mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering consulting services for a broad array of projects and clients across sectors such as K-12 schools, commercial real estate, healthcare, higher education, and retail. Services may include performing field investigations, engineering analyses, calculations, design and development of plans and specifications, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports. Lead MEP projects including diagnostic assessments, remedial design, MEP-focused facility condition assessments (FCAs), energy audits and energy modeling, energy code compliance verification, commissioning (Cx), retro-commissioning (RCx), and construction observations in new and existing facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field investigations, engineering analyses, calculations, and design/development of plans and specifications.
  • Write, prepare, and review technical reports related to MEP services.
  • Observe construction and verify compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Prepare proposals and fee estimates; track and evaluate project progress.
  • Research and help resolve design and construction problems.
  • Review and evaluate field data for inclusion in reports.
  • Apply sound engineering principles and communicate engineering issues to technical and non-technical clients.
  • Participate in safety rules and practices; model a safe work environment and promote pre-task planning.
  • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement; follow quality standards and practices.
  • Develop understanding of project-related risks and company risk policies.
  • Work under senior-level engineering professionals for technical direction on routine and complex projects.
  • Assist senior engineers in conceptualizing design and investigative approaches, planning, scheduling, and coordinating engineering work.
  • Participate in projects requiring detailed and innovative investigation techniques; assist in analysis and formulation of recommendations.
  • Engage in technical training and utilize state-of-the-art technology in practice.
  • Assist in business development efforts with department managers and business development personnel.
  • Execute projects from proposal to final reporting or design documents under direction.
  • Prepare proposals for review and signature by senior engineers.
  • Interface with internal and external clients; coordinate work assignments with other department personnel.
  • Conduct field diagnostics, assessments, and analyses; prepare reports.
  • Prepare MEP remedial design work and complete project manuals/documents for permitting; perform construction administration.
  • Mentor junior professionals involved in projects.
  • Manage and perform multiple projects concurrently with varied timelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum two years of experience with building MEP systems (preferred).
  • Able to obtain Professional Engineer License within three years of hire date.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
