MEP Service Manager

DeBra-Kuempel is a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP); building automation; and industrial piping contractor offering design-build engineering, installation, specialty construction, maintenance, air balancing, start-up, and energy efficiency services for new construction and renovation projects.

About the role

We are seeking a Service Manager for our Columbus, Ohio location. In this role, you will lead a team of Service Technicians by providing assistance, guidance, and training while managing and monitoring service and repair projects within your Account Team. This is an opportunity to work with an established Service Account Team and contribute to the growth of our business.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor the performance of service and repair projects within assigned customer accounts.
• Assist the Account Manager in defining technical requirements for proper HVAC & R equipment service and repair.
• Monitor Service Technicians to ensure they meet technical requirements.
• Provide assistance, guidance, and training to Service Technicians.
• Support interdepartmental personnel (Dispatch Coordinators and Service Coordinators) in their roles.
• Ensure adherence to company and management policies and procedures.
• Maintain good customer and employee relations.
• Oversee proper and accurate documentation.
• Remain accessible to customers and employees.
• Assist Account Managers in managing new and existing accounts.
• Monitor employee performance and recommend personnel actions such as dismissal, reassignment, promotion, or additional staffing.
• Participate in a 24-hour on-call weekly rotation, as directed by the Vice President.
• Provide technical assistance to the Service Coordinator for efficient manpower distribution.
• Deliver customer repair/replacement estimates in a timely and professional manner.
• Complete required LMS classes as mandated by EMCOR.
• Manage refrigerant inventory and track technicians' refrigerant usage.

Requirements

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Must satisfactorily complete an industry aptitude test.
• Strong organizational skills to achieve operational profitability and maintain sound procedural operations.
• Ability to build strong customer and employee relations.
• Professional appearance.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability.

Working hours: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (additional hours as necessary).

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit, see, talk, and hear.
• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to commute to field locations and navigate job site environments.

Work Environment

• May require sitting for long periods in front of a computer.
• Travel to field locations as needed.
• Field work may involve exposure to:
  • Outdoor conditions and weather.
  • Wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Moving mechanical and electrical parts.
  • High, precarious places.
  • Dust, fumes, or airborne particles.
  • Toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Extended exposure to sunlight, cold, and heat.
  • Risk of electrical shock and vibration.
• Noise level in the field work environment is usually moderate to loud.
