Mentor a Chicago Public High School Student

About the role

iMentor Chicago seeks dedicated adults to serve as mentors for juniors and seniors in Chicago Public Schools. The role involves monthly in-person meetings, weekly messaging, and building long-term relationships that extend beyond graduation.

Responsibilities

• Show up monthly for in-person meetings with mentees
• Exchange weekly messages to maintain communication
• Build and nurture long-term relationships with mentees
• Attend one in-person group event each month
• Communicate weekly with mentees using our online platform
• Work closely with iMentor staff to support the mentee's post-secondary readiness curriculum and college application process

Requirements

• Commitment to serving as a mentor for 2 years
• Willingness to commit to monthly in-person meetings and weekly messaging
• Ability to build and maintain long-term relationships
• Experience working with high school students
• Strong communication skills
• Passion for supporting students in achieving their educational goals
