Mental Health Worker Position Overview

Liberty Healthcare is seeking experienced and aspiring mental health professionals for a Mental Health Worker position on their 10-bed acute psychiatric stabilization unit. This unit serves adults who are justice-involved and experiencing acute mental illness, located at Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City, CA.

Responsibilities

• Establishing therapeutic relationships with patients
• Leading therapeutic recreation activities with individuals and groups
• Monitoring patient activity and behavior
• Promoting a positive therapeutic milieu
• Managing aggressive patient behaviors through appropriate intervention techniques
• Participating in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
• Documenting therapeutic interventions, observations, and treatment in medical records

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related human services field is preferred
• Experience supporting people with mental illness
• Experience working in a jail, prison, psychiatric hospital, mental health setting or human services program is preferred

Work Schedule

• Per diem (as needed)
• Weekday and weekend shift options
• Three shift options: days from 6:45 am to 3:00 pm, evenings from 2:45 pm to 11:00 pm, and nights from 10:45 pm to 7:00 am
