Mental Health Worker- 12HR DAYS- Shift 7am-7:30pm

About the role

Vista Del Mar is an inpatient psychiatric hospital serving Ventura and the surrounding areas. Our Mental Health Workers provide direct care to our clients in the form of greeting and orienting new clients, crisis de-escalation and intervention, and assisting clients with completing treatment related activities and daily life tasks. Mental Health Workers are an essential part of our multi-disciplinary team that help to ensure the safety and dignity of our hospital's environment.

Responsibilities

• Greeting and orienting new clients
• Crisis de-escalation and intervention
• Aiding clients with treatment-related activities and daily life tasks
• Communicating effectively with both clients and staff
• Maintaining confidentiality of client information
• Using telephone etiquette and customer service skills
• Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred
• Demonstrating leadership and teamwork skills
• Resolving problems in a fast-paced work environment
• Showing respect and empathy towards clients
• Adhering to professional and therapeutic boundaries
• Understanding basic or general knowledge of human growth and development, behavior management modalities, and mental illness

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to work in person, on site
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Previous inpatient and/or RTC experience preferred but not required
• CPR & Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) certifications must be obtained within 30 days of hire
