About the role

The Mental Health Therapist provides comprehensive psychosocial assessments and crisis intervention on the mental health unit. This role is responsible for delivering brief therapeutic interventions in individual and family formats, including safety planning. This role is responsible for mandated reporting as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and execute personalized treatment plans that effectively address behavioral health diagnoses and complex social needs.
  • Participate in group and milieu activities with patients as directed by unit need.
  • Collaborate with community agencies to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Work independently, maintain a high level of organization, and identify opportunities for collaborative work with other units and departments within the hospital.
  • Demonstrate and model Dayton Children’s values through effective interaction with patients, families, and team members while providing excellent care.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling or Social Work
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFTs) - Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage & Family Therapist Board, LPC - Licensed Professional Counselor - Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage & Family Therapist Board, LSW Ohio - Ohio Licensed Social Worker
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a behavioral health or healthcare setting preferred
  • Experience working with patients with mental health or substance use disorders is strongly desired

Qualifications

Education Required: Master’s Degree in Counseling or Social Work
