About the role
The Mental Health Therapist provides assessment, short-term counseling, ongoing counseling, referral and follow-up service to children and families. Our Mental Health Therapists are given the opportunity to develop a range of interventions and provided support to develop clinical skills. Our team currently provides CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), PCIT (Parent Child Interaction Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy), Neuro Divergent treatment such as social thinking curriculum and gaming groups.
Responsibilities
- Provides psychotherapy to children and families.
- Provides initial evaluations, and short-term and long-term treatment, and the option to provide group therapy based on patient needs.
- Conducts diagnostic psycho-social evaluations.
- Maintains accurate and descriptive records on patients receiving services using electronic medical records.
- Works collaboratively and develops relationships with care teams, physicians and professionals as appropriate to ensure that patient treatment is consistent with their condition and treatment requirements.
- May be exposed to infectious diseases, bio-hazardous materials and combative patients.
- Part of interdisciplinary C/L Team. Interfaces with patients on medical floors and ED. Provides assessment, triage counseling. Facilitate admissions or outpatient referrals. Referral Bonus Program Eligibility N/A
Requirements
- Education: Master's Degree in Behavioral Sciences from an accredited university required.
- Experience: Two years - Five years of experience in the mental health profession preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP).
Qualifications
- Varied and complex work is performed under general guidance in patient care environment and is often fast-paced, requiring use of prioritization skills.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development.
Skills
- Knowledge of various therapeutic modalities (CBT, PCIT, DBT, EMDR, Neuro Divergent treatment).
- Ability to work collaboratively and develop relationships with care teams, physicians and professionals.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
