Mental Health Therapist, Contractor - WI / Remote

About the role

We are an early-stage company building a new mental health program for kids centered around schools. Our role is to support school staff who interact with students daily. We collaborate with them rather than go around them.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health assessments and skills-based teletherapy to elementary, middle, and high school students in our partner school districts (typically 2-4 months per student with possible extension up to 6 months)
  • Collaborate with referring school counselors and other relevant providers at the start of treatment and throughout the student's care journey (through regular phone calls, emails, and virtual meetings)
  • Build trusted relationships with school staff and families to support a student's mental health needs, school engagement, and engagement with school-based services, if applicable
  • Offer regular psycho-education and support to parents and caregivers to enhance a student's mental health needs and individual therapy work
  • Collaborate with Cartwheel MDs/NPs on treatment planning, care delivery, and transition planning over a student's care journey
  • Partner with the External Referrals team to support the identification of referrals to community mental health and primary care providers
  • Participate in case consultations and discussions with other Cartwheel team members
  • Help to further build Cartwheel’s clinical programming and wonderful Care Team

Requirements

  • Must have an active Wisconsin license to deliver mental health care (LCSW, LMFT, LPC, PhD/PsyD)
  • Experience with CBT, DBT, ACT, solution-focused therapy, and/or motivational interviewing
  • At least two years of experience delivering mental health services to children and youth via telehealth
  • Fluency in other languages (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese) is a plus
  • Experience working in a shorter-term model of care delivery (e.g., 2 weeks to 6 months) is a plus
  • Active NPI number and CAQH credentialing are required

  • Excellent organization, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to offer hours during and especially after school (e.g., 3-8 pm Central Time, Saturdays)
  • Ability to provide effective and safe care to children and adults, including managing crisis situations virtually

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Knowledge of mental health assessment and treatment modalities
  • Experience with telehealth platforms and tools
