Mental Health Therapist at Connections Clinic - Second Shift
About the role
At Children’s Wisconsin, we believe kids deserve the best. Our pediatricians and primary care offices offer parents a level of care that cannot be obtained at other places. We are seeking a Mental Health Therapist who is critical to the success of the Children’s Wisconsin’s Mental and Behavioral Health strategy by increasing Access, reducing Stigma, engaging in Early Detection, Prevention and Education.
This is a second shift position, with a schedule of 10am to 6:30pm Monday through Friday. The Mental Health Therapist provides individual, group, and family therapy to children and their families in an outpatient clinic setting, using evidence based/informed, trauma informed, and inclusive practices.
Responsibilities
- Provides individual, group, and family therapy to children and their families in an outpatient clinic setting
- Actively engages the child, their family, and caregivers in treatment and recovery planning
- Provides consultation, education, and outreach to colleagues, trainees, and community
- Participates in activities and initiatives related to the MBH strategy
- Conducts Mental Health New Patient appointments to navigate families to the most beneficial services for their child
- Practices the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS)
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field, plus 3000 hours post Master’s experience or PhD or PsyD from an APA accredited program
- Current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Professional Counselor (LPC) from the State of Wisconsin
- Ability to provide quality individual, group and family therapy using Evidence-Based Practices
- Ability to collaborate with caregivers, colleagues, medical staff, and community partners
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Working Conditions
The Mental Health Therapist will work in a child and adolescent mental health clinic and school conditions, and may be exposed to bodily fluids, encounter distressing patient stories/traumas, and need to crawl on floor or engage in play-type activities with children in therapy.
The therapist may also need to verbally de-escalate upset children, adolescents, or adults, and must be able to work nights and occasional weekends, with some travel required.
Qualifications
Preferred experience working with children and families, diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and trauma. Experience working with Electronic Health Record is also preferred.
