Mental Health Technician Discharge Liaison - Willowbrooke (Days) (Part-time)

About the role

To assist with day-to-day management of patients on an inpatient psychiatric unit under the direction of a Registered Nurse and ultimately a Nurse Manager. The Mental Health Technician will be an integral part of the patient's treatment team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living for patients unable to perform these activities.
• Support group activities, including co-facilitation under the direction of the therapist or nursing staff.
• Assist with the collection of vital signs, patient information, and accuchecks.
• Perform 15-minute safety checks.
• Assist in the de-escalation of patients on the unit.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Healthcare Provider (CPR) certification (obtain within 90 days of employment if not already certified).
• Safe Crisis Intervention for Patients and Professionals (SCIPP) certification (obtain within 90 days of employment if not already certified).
• Education or experience in the behavioral health field is preferred.

• Ability to interact with staff and the public in a mature, professional manner.
• Ability to handle crises calmly and effectively.
• Ability to manage significant amounts of confidential patient information.
• Willingness to follow the leadership of senior staff.
