About the role
Provide treatment for patients with behavioral health and/or substance use disorders and their families through assessment, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, crisis assessment, and intervention. The direction of treatment and extent of contacts will be determined by the treatment plan developed with the patient and/or family. Therapists use their clinical individuality while working effectively with the team.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans in collaboration with patients and families
- Provide individual, family, and group therapy
- Perform crisis assessment and intervention
- Use evidenced-based practices to assist patients in achieving identified goals
- Assess needs, strengths, abilities, and preferences to develop appropriate clinical interventions
- Assess and manage crisis situations
- Teach and model symptom management, communication, and social skills
- Navigate and maintain electronic medical records
- Exercise duty of care for individuals in recovery or experiencing relapse
Requirements
- Master’s degree in counseling or related field
- Fully licensed by the state of Georgia (LPC, LCSW, LMFT)
- Three years of related experience
- Working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment, and procedures
- Knowledge of current DSM diagnostic criteria
- Familiarity with continuum of care
- Minimum two-year period away from clinical duties after acknowledging a problem or relapse and completing treatment (if applicable)
Qualifications
- Ability to assess needs, strengths, and preferences to develop clinical interventions and plans of care
- Ability to use active listening skills and relate empathetically to people
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and organize work to meet deadlines
- Ability to set boundaries and think critically
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Certifications
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Healthcare Provider (CPR) certification (obtain within 90 days of employment)
- Safe Crisis Intervention for Patients and Professionals (SCIPP) certification (obtain within 90 days of employment)
- Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor (preferred)
