Mental Health Technician - Clinic

Responsibilities

• Affords assistance with activities of daily living, toileting, feeding, and grooming.
• Makes beds and cleans rooms as needed.
• Takes and records patient vital signs under the supervision of a nurse.
• Aids in the admission process as directed.
• Assists in group settings as per the direction of a nurse or therapist.
• Supports moving patients between locations as required.
• Laundering clothes as needed or directed.
• Redirects patients and employs proper techniques to prevent aggression, falls, or injuries.
• Retrieves and delivers medications from the pneumatic tube system or pharmacy.
• Documents vital signs, activities of daily living, sleep hours, safety checks, and environmental checks.
• Participates in documenting group activities under the guidance of a licensed professional.
• Notifies nursing staff, therapists, or physicians of patient behaviors, needs, and safety concerns.
• Communicates with patients in a therapeutic manner and reports pertinent information.
• Conducts environmental and patient safety checks as directed.
• Monitors patients for potential hazards and inspects for contraband items.
• Follows infection control procedures such as handwashing and cleaning.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Crisis Intervention Training within 90 days of employment.
• Proficient in the English language, both verbally and in writing, and basic computer skills.
• BLS Certification.
