Mental Health Technician

About the Role

Windsor Laurelwood, originally established in 1898, has served the community for over 125 years, providing high-quality behavioral health and substance use treatment services to adults, adolescents, and children. Our multidisciplinary treatment team includes board-certified psychiatrists, psychologists, registered nurses, licensed social workers, case managers, milieu and activity therapists. The Mental Health Technician is a vital part of Windsor Laurelwood Center for Behavioral Health’s treatment team.

This is a full-time position with an opportunity to work the day, evening, or overnight shift. Full-time positions require employees to work every other weekend. A competitive shift differential is offered for evening, night, and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
  • Provide routine patient care as required in a psychiatric environment
  • Document and communicate unusual or erratic changes in client behaviors
  • Assist with patient groups and activities
  • Work with culturally and generationally diverse populations to meet their individual needs
  • Provide trauma-informed and age-specific care
  • Maintain therapeutic boundaries and utilize crisis intervention techniques

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • College students who have obtained or are pursuing a degree in behavioral health, psychology, nursing, or human services are preferred
  • Previous experience in a mental health or substance abuse treatment facility is strongly preferred
