Mental Health Technician
About the role
Mental Health Technicians play a crucial role in providing a caring and safe healing environment for patients at Regions Hospital. They collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, physician assistants, occupational therapists, nurses, social workers, and others to ensure comprehensive and personalized care.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care to patients experiencing mental illness(es) and their families using de-escalation skills, group dynamics, and facilitation.
- Work with the Mental Health Care team to address emergent and urgent issues as needed.
- Perform activities of daily living (ADLs) on a daily basis.
- Assist with therapeutic programming and milieu management.
- Collect patient data including vital signs, weights, intake & output.
- Collect routine patient specimens such as urine, stool, and finger stick blood glucose as directed.
- Respond to call lights and requests and assist nurses with procedures as requested.
- Document and chart care provided in the electronic health record.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of a post-secondary education program in behavioral sciences OR completion of one year of a post-secondary education in behavioral sciences or health care field.
- Completion of one year of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness OR 1 year of similar related health care experience as applicable.

Pay
The pay rate for this position is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
This role is part-time (0.50 FTE or 20 hours per week), with shifts available during Day and Evening shifts. There is a rotation of every other weekend and some holidays.
