Mental Health Technician
About the role
The Mental Health Technician plays a crucial role in supporting psychiatric patients within a collaborative, interdisciplinary treatment team. Responsibilities include providing excellent patient customer service, collaborating with various healthcare professionals, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a key member of the interdisciplinary treatment team
- Assist with the provision of basic patient care and recovery needs
- Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, front office staff, and clinic management to achieve comprehensive health care outcomes
- Perform a variety of functions within the clinic setting, integrating specialized knowledge and available resources
- Advocate for ethical and holistic care, promoting the autonomy, dignity, and health of patients from diverse backgrounds
- Support patient safety by observing and documenting patient behavior, conducting patient room searches, reporting unsafe conditions, and providing appropriate emotional and physical support
- Document interventions in various modalities tailored to individual patient needs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or another human services field preferred, or 1 year of relevant experience
- Must obtain a Nursing Assistant Registered (NAR) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) prior to start date
- If assigned to Navos Hospital, BLS certification is required prior to starting. Other campuses require CPR certification, First Aid training, and Food Handler's Card within the first two weeks of hire.
- Washington State Counselor Agency Affiliated Registered (ACCR) credential must be applied for within 30 days of hire. The credential must be obtained upon issuance by the Department of Health.
Qualifications
- Must have a valid Washington State license as a Mental Health Technician (MHT)
- Must have a valid Washington State license as a Registered Nurse (RN)

Pay and Schedule
The pay scale for this position ranges from $26.69 to $44.12 USD per hour. Specific pay is influenced by factors such as years of experience, certifications, and education.
