Mental Health Technician
About the role
The Mental Health Technician provides patient care at the direction of the Charge Nurse or Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include assisting patients with activities of daily living, managing admission and discharge procedures, leading or co-facilitating patient groups, and orienting new patients to the unit environment. Duties also include completing safety/location checks and other care functions as assigned.
Responsibilities

- Perform other care functions as assigned by the Charge Nurse
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician Certification or equivalent experience
- CNA or PCT certification preferred
- BLS required
- Additional certifications (Secure, etc.) may be required depending on the area assigned
Qualifications
- Requires stable physical and mental health
- Communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing
- Frequently cope with stressful/rapidly changing situations
- Knowledge of body mechanics and basic safety, principles of physical care and comfort
- Medical terminology training preferred
- Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns
