Mental Health Tech/Unit Secretary - Inpatient Psychiatry

About the role

The Mental Health Technician/Unit Secretary is a member of the interdisciplinary team on Inpatient Psychiatry.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe therapeutic environment
• Observe patients
• Document observations and activities
• Manage emergency situations
• Perform secretarial tasks on the nursing unit
• Support the nursing staff and other members of the healthcare team for direct and indirect aspects of patient care
• Act as a communication link between the health care team, other departments, and patients and families
• Support the constant observation needs for mental health patients throughout the hospital on an as needed basis

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• AS or BS degree in mental health or human services related field preferred
• Previous employment in a health care environment preferred
