About the role
Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center, a 118-bed acute psychiatric hospital and residential treatment center for children and adolescents ages four through eighteen, is seeking Mental Health Technicians. This 55,000 square foot facility is located on approximately 10 acres in southeast Alabama, near Florida and Georgia. The hospital includes the New Day Academy, a state-supported year-round K-12th grade school with vocational opportunities, and employs approximately 195 staff members.
Mental Health Technicians provide direct patient care to patients with psychiatric disorders in a manner that prioritizes safety, patients’ rights, comfort, and the therapeutic environment. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age to apply.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to individuals with psychiatric disorders.
- Ensure safety, respect patients’ rights, and maintain a therapeutic environment.
- Facilitate groups with a variety of developmental ages (child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in mental health, psychology, or a related field preferred.
- One to two years of experience in facilitating groups with diverse age groups.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
