About the Role

Humboldt Park Health is expanding our Behavioral Health team to meet the growing mental health needs of the community. We are seeking compassionate, dedicated Mental Health Technicians to join our team, with opportunities available across day and night shifts and in full-time, part-time, and registry/PRN roles. This role supports patients receiving behavioral health services, promotes a safe and therapeutic environment, and works collaboratively with nurses, counselors, providers, and other members of the care team.

Schedule & Shift Opportunities

  • Day and night shifts available
  • Full-time, part-time, and registry/PRN opportunities
  • Schedules and hours may vary based on position, patient needs, and operational requirements
  • Flexibility may be required
  • Eligible shifts may qualify for shift differentials per Humboldt Park Health’s policy

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate care for a group of patients for a designated period to achieve clinical outcomes
  • Manage hand-off communication with incoming and outgoing shifts; conduct rounds to familiarize self with patients on the unit
  • Manage the admission process up to the nursing assessment, including contraband checks, new patient orientation, and the discharge process specific to accurate return of belongings
  • Routinely provide one-to-one assistance to assigned patients
  • Demonstrate the ability to supervise the therapeutic milieu, including de-escalation techniques
  • Participate in department/unit performance improvement activities
  • Assist with basic activities of living as required; instruct on all aspects of self-care
  • Execute directives provided by the charge nurse
  • Milieu management abilities
  • Run Behavioral Health groups
  • Verbal de-escalation skills

Requirements

  • CPR certification required
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification required
