Mental Health Counselor - Behavioral Health - Multiple Shifts Available

About the Role

Join Humboldt Park Health’s growing Behavioral Health team to meet the mental health needs of the community. We are seeking compassionate, dedicated Mental Health Counselors with opportunities available across day and night shifts in full-time, part-time, and registry/PRN roles. This is an evergreen posting; applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis as staffing needs evolve.

Our commitment extends beyond the hospital through outreach programs supporting uninsured or underserved individuals and families, managing chronic conditions, and promoting health and well-being.

Schedule

Opportunities are available for day and night shifts in full-time, part-time, and registry/PRN roles. Schedules and hours may vary based on position, patient needs, and operational requirements. Flexibility may be required. Eligible shifts may qualify for shift differentials per Humboldt Park Health’s policy.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care for a group of patients to achieve clinical outcomes.
• Manage hand-off communication with incoming and outgoing shifts; conduct rounds to familiarize self with patients on the unit.
• Oversee the admission process, including contraband checks, new patient orientation, and the discharge process to ensure accurate return of belongings.
• Provide one-to-one assistance to assigned patients.
• Supervise the therapeutic milieu, including de-escalation techniques.
• Participate in department/unit performance improvement activities.
• Assist with basic activities of living and instruct on self-care.
• Execute directives provided by the charge nurse.
• Manage the milieu and run Behavioral Health groups.
• Utilize verbal de-escalation skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (Required).
• CPR certification (Required).
• CPI certification (a plus).
