Mental Health Supervisor (CSS)

About the role

This position provides clinical and administrative supervision for case management, peer support specialists, and Community Support Services (CSS) therapists. It involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the unit and collaborating with internal and community programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical and administrative supervision and leadership for case management, peer support specialists, and other professional staff assigned to the team.
  • Makes sure the clinical practice of employees is reviewed, including reviewing records, monitoring Person Centered Planning (PCP) practices, observing employees, reviewing and acting on statistical reports, and coordinating service delivery within SCCMHA and other agencies.
  • Understands co-occurring disorders and teaches staff how to provide evidence-based services.
  • Has a strong understanding of mental health diagnosis and informs staff about signs and systems.
  • Selects and trains staff in consultation with the Executive Director of Clinical Services.
  • Participates in regular meetings to ensure resource utilization, program plan coordination, and policy formulation.
  • Collaborates with medical professionals to ensure whole person care.
  • Maintains compliance with Medicaid 1915 State Plan Amendment Waiver and CCBHC standards.
  • Aids in securing residential placements and monitoring Adult Foster Care and Specialized Residential Homes.
  • Understands and assists with Home and Community Based Services.
  • Serves on various committees to promote SCCMHA's goals.
  • Develops and implements policies and practices to ensure timely and dignified service delivery.
  • Communicates SCCMHA's mission, vision, and core values to employees.
  • Facilitates monthly staff meetings and individual supervision meetings.
  • Ensures staff receive required training related to their jobs.
  • Supports the implementation of evidence-based practices.
  • Communicates with staff about the mission, vision, and core values of SCCMHA.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a mental health-related field from an accredited school.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a clinical mental health or related organization preferred.
  • Previous administrative experience preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant professional clinical experience in mental health treatment programs, serving adults with serious mental illness.
  • Limited licensed master’s social worker (LLMSW), licensed master’s social worker (LMSW), limited licensed professional counselor (LLPC), licensed professional counselor (LPC), limited licensed marriage and family therapist (LLMFT), licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), limited licensed psychologist (LLP) and licensed psychologist (LP) licenses and certifications.
  • Ability to provide clinical leadership.
  • Knowledge and ability to demonstrate person-centered planning practices.
  • General business skills and ability to manage a budget.
  • Computer competency, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet, E-mail.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, minimum at college level.
  • Ability to organize and maintain data and information.
  • Problem-solving and mediation abilities, including ability to effectively manage personnel.
  • Ability to maintain favorable public relations and provide community leadership.
  • Ability to exercise independent and mature judgment.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Hearing acuity to converse in person and on telephone.
  • Visual acuity to observe consumers' behavior, read and proofread documents, and use EHR and other electronic devices.
  • Manual dexterity to write and to operate standard office equipment (PC, Keyboard, Copy Machine, Fax Machine, etc.).
  • Ability to lift and carry files and supplies at least 20 pounds.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with leadership, employees, consumers, and the general public.
  • Analytical skills necessary to conduct research, analyze, and interpret complex data and identify and solve problems by proposing courses of action.
  • Ability to plan short and long-range and to manage and schedule time.
  • Ability to handle stress in meeting deadlines and dealing with large numbers of employees and/or consumers.
