Responsibilities
- Partner with educators and school leaders to promote the emotional and behavioral well-being of students across a diverse range of developmental, cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Lead psych-educational groups and community meetings and assist in social skills training.
- Deliver on-site, real-time support to students throughout the school day, including in classrooms, common areas, and during transitions.
- Aid in the development and implementation of individualized behavior and mental health support plans.
- Monitor, document, and analyze behavioral data to track progress and guide interventions.
- Apply trauma-informed, positive behavioral interventions and support (PBIS) strategies in alignment with school-wide practices.
- Utilize de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques, including physical safety interventions when necessary, to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and affirming school culture that nurtures students’ social-emotional development.
- Collaborate with psychologists, counselors, behavior specialists, and other professionals to create tailored support systems for students with intensive needs.
- Engage in debriefing and reflective practices following behavioral or crisis events to support continuous improvement.
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, providing updates and fostering strong partnerships to support student growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 3-4 years of Mental Health experience
Physical Requirements
- Ability to run short distances and move swiftly in response to student needs, including bending, kneeling, and crouching.
- Ability to lift and assist students with mobility challenges, often requiring the handling of up to 50 pounds or more.
- Skill in managing fine motor tasks, such as helping students with writing, manipulating small objects, or using adaptive devices.
- Ability to operate a computer or tablet for up to 8 hours daily.
- Capacity to notice and respond to non-verbal cues from students.
- Capacity to remain calm and composed during physically and emotionally demanding situations, ensuring student safety and well-being.
