Job Overview
The Mental Health Screener responds to the emotional needs of those requesting assistance through screening, assessment, crisis intervention, referral and outreach.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, nursing or related clinical field required
- With 3 years of full-time work experience in a mental health setting
- OR
- Master's degree in social work, psychology, nursing or related clinical field required
- With 1 year of experience in a mental health setting
- PREFERRED:
- Experience within Crisis Intervention and Emergency Services
- Certified New Jersey Mental Health Screener or immediately eligible with six months of hire required
- Full-Time, Night Shift (36 hours per week)
- Facilitates voluntary/involuntary hospitalization of clients in accordance with the Emergency Services policies and procedures
- Fully documents all client contacts and submits in a timely manner
- Provides and completes all documentation records and forms as stipulated in the Emergency Services Department policies and procedures
- Provides crisis intervention, information, and referral services on the telephone, in the Emergency Room and throughout the community
- Brings all unusual situation, incidents or difficulties encountered to the provision of emergency services to the attention of the Director or his/her designate
- Performs all other duties as assigned
