About the role
The school counseling program at Spokane Valley Tech is modeled based on recommendations from the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) framework. The program aims to serve every student with a particular focus in academic counseling and planning, social and emotional support, and college and career readiness.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver school counseling programs that improve student outcomes
- Develop school counseling programs based on data-informed decision making
- Deliver school counseling programs to all students systematically
- Incorporate a developmentally appropriate curriculum focused on postsecondary readiness and success
- Closely monitor and address achievement and opportunity gaps among students
- Implement strategies to improve student achievement, attendance, and discipline
Qualifications
- A master's degree in school counseling or closely related field
- Valid Washington State School Counselor Certification
- Experience working with diverse student populations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents
