Mental Health Peer Ambassador
About the Role
The Counseling and Wellness Center at Santa Fe College provides free short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and outreach to SF students. As part of the Trauma Response Team, we offer comfort and connect students with helpful services. We also conduct trainings like Mental Health First Aid and QPR to promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention. We are seeking dedicated student employees to serve as Mental Health Peer Ambassadors, assisting with college events and student workshops.
Responsibilities
- Represents Santa Fe College and the Counseling and Wellness Center during college events while promoting campus resources.
- Engages in outreach activities, including tabling with informational materials on mental health topics for specific campus groups.
- Conducts educational workshops in English and/or Spanish on topics such as depression, anxiety, consent, and self-care.
- Holds informal sessions with students to encourage overall wellness and self-care.
- Posts on social media to promote wellness and mental health events.
- Works alongside counselors to promote the Center at college events.
- Complies with College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations, including FERPA and confidentiality.
- Maintains privacy, security, and confidentiality of records and sensitive information.
- Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Currently enrolled SF student in good academic and behavioral standing, taking six (6) or more credit hours.
Additional Requirements:
- A criminal background check will be conducted.
Preferred:
- Career goals aligned with psychology, social work, mental health, public health, education, etc.
- Previous volunteer experience.
- Public speaking skills or interest in developing them.
