About the role

Candidates must have a Masters degree in administration, counseling, social work, or related field.

Maine Department of Education certification in administration, school counseling, social work is preferred.

Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams, agencies who provide therapeutic interventions with children and families, school personnel and/or in school settings, and creating and positively supporting / maintaining systems change is required.

Basic computer experience and fluency in using computers is necessary.

An ability to work independently and in cooperation with others, strong organizational skills, strong oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills in working with diverse populations, flexibility in assigned work hours, a commitment to public health approaches, community collaboration, and client empowerment, and an energetic and positive approach to the rapidly evolving changes and challenges of a complex workplace are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the district homeless and foster care liaison.
  • Attend trainings on the McKinney Vento law.
  • Meet with students and/or families who are experiencing homelessness to connect with resources.
  • Monitor and support the communication and utilization of wrap-around services for students with homeless and/or mental health challenges.
  • Provide technical support to schools and communities on mental health services, interventions, referrals, programming.
  • Support students, families, and schools by coordinating with counseling agencies, caseworkers, probation officers, community and support services.
  • Work with other agencies to share information and coordinate services.
  • Cookordinate, support, and oversee district mental health programs such as Sources of Strength.
  • Assist the District and schools in identifying gaps in mental health.
