About the role
The purpose of this position is to provide the full array of treatment services for residents at the Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy
- Conduct assessments of residents and develop treatment plans
- Perform discharge planning, including referrals to community resources
- Deliver case management and coordinate resources for residents
- Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team
- Facilitate psychoeducational groups and provide task orientation
- Document treatment progress and exercise independent judgment in service delivery
- Administer CPR and First Aid as needed
Requirements
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology from an accredited institution
- Ability to provide individual, group, and family counseling using cognitive, behavioral, supportive, and insight-oriented techniques
- Working knowledge of counseling principles, psychological constructs, and intervention techniques
- Ability to develop treatment goals and implement plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including basic word processing and computer proficiency
- Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with multidisciplinary teams and exercise sound judgment
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as required
Qualifications
- Virginia licensure as LCSW, professional counselor, or psychologist strongly preferred
- Experience working with inpatient or residential mental health populations preferred
- Experience with forensic mental health populations preferred
- Experience with sex offenders is preferred but not essential
