About the role
The Mental Health Counselor at ReDiscover plays a crucial role in supporting clients with diverse characteristics, working collaboratively with program staff and management to develop and integrate services for the agency.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and interact with a caseload of clients with diverse characteristics either in-person or over the phone.
- Conduct high quality clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans in a timely manner.
- Identify and provide clinical interventions and referrals for clients based on their needs.
- Empower clients to develop and nurture the knowledge, skills, and support systems crucial to promoting optimal functioning in the community.
- Continually assess clients for lack of progress, progress, or emergent needs and address those needs clinically.
- Engage difficult-to-serve clients by investigating all potential resources in order to gain access and make connections.
- Collect and maintain information about clients and document interactions within ReDiscover’s designated electronic medical record.
- Communicate and collaborate with an internal multi-disciplinary team to address various aspects of wellness and ensure positive communication regarding the coordination of client care.
Qualifications
- Availability to work a full-time schedule, (40-hours a week), Monday to Friday - 8:00am to 5:00pm.
- A Master’s or Doctorate Degree in a social science field (as defined by the Department of Mental Health).
- An Active Provisional Counselor license (PLPC) through the state of Missouri or a Master Social Worker license (LMSW) with registered supervision with the Missouri Division of Professional Registration for licensure as a Clinical Social Worker in a minimum requirement.
- An Active clinical license in the State of Missouri which includes: Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience in direct service provision in a mental health setting.
- Working knowledge of mental illness and substance use disorders.
- Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as GSuite.
