Mental Health Counselor II

DePelchin Children's Center is seeking a Mental Health Counselor to join the Critical Response Team, providing social work and therapeutic services to children and families across various settings, including in-home, in-office, virtual, and school-based environments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake and comprehensive assessments to determine appropriate services and develop individualized service/treatment plans.
• Develop and outline a plan of service incorporating DePelchin and community resources based on client and family input.
• Reassess child and family needs every 90 days to modify the service plan as needed.
• Provide therapeutic and counseling services using appropriate treatment modalities.
• Assist clients with referrals to community services and advocate for entitlements or needed services.
• Maintain current, accurate records meeting all agency requirements.
• Track and submit monthly statistics and data for program accountability and billing.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in social work or related human services field.
• Fully licensed as an LMSW; or provisionally licensed as an LPC-Associate or LMFT-Associate.
• Passed licensure examination for LMSW, LMFT-Associate, or LPC-Associate (employment contingent upon full/provisional licensure within 90 days of hire).
• Ability to relate well to children and families in crisis.
• Strong organizational and paperwork skills, with ability to submit documentation electronically and on time.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, referral sources, and culturally diverse populations.
• Comfort with complexity, advocacy, and mediation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable personal transportation, valid Texas driver’s license, and current auto insurance.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of experience in case management, crisis intervention, or child welfare.
• Bilingual skills.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM (varies according to client schedule).
• Flexible hours based on client needs.

Work Conditions

• Work environments include home-based office, schools, community, and virtual settings.
• Frequent travel required.
• This is a grant-funded position; continued employment is contingent upon availability of funding.
