Mental Health Counselor

Responsibilities

• Counsels individuals and conducts group sessions.
• Conducts assessments and makes treatment recommendations.
• Makes referrals for appropriate levels of care.
• Maintains accurate client records.
• Serves as a liaison to community agencies.
• Fosters professional linkages with other service providers.
• Facilitates therapeutic groups based on client needs.
• Trains staff on addressing identified needs.
• Adheres to social work standards and ethical principles.
• Facilitates various types of group interventions.

Qualifications

• Master of Social Work (MSW).
• Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).
• Experience using DHS CARES Software.
• Knowledge of multi-disciplinary team practices.
• Understanding of crisis management techniques.
• Ability to develop and implement clinical interventions.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
