About the role

The Mental Health Counselor is responsible for providing psychosocial assessments, collaborative treatment planning, engagement, referrals and evidenced-based clinical interventions as indicated for individuals dealing with a variety of mental health and co-occurring substance use issues.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts initial psychosocial assessments and provides initial treatment recommendations and collaboratively with the patient develops a personalized treatment plan with emphasis on evidenced-based practice within a harm reduction orientation
  • Provides resources and referrals as indicated to facilitate achievement of a patient’s treatment goals
  • Provides psychotherapy and crisis intervention to individuals and families who are dealing with a variety of issues including but not limited to mental health, co-occurring substance use disorders, chronic medical conditions including HIV, HCV and issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity
  • Adheres to program expectations and requirements surrounding productivity, documentation timelines and standards, and overall quality of patient care

Qualifications

  • Master of Social Work or other related field with two (2) years of related experience
  • LMSW or LCSW preferred
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally
  • Demonstrate familiarity with computers and MS Office software (Outlook, Word)
  • Effective time management and organization skills
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to the issues and health disparities faced by underserved populations is essential
  • Working knowledge utilizing electronic medical records software (Medent) strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders

Pay

This position is posted with a salary range. The actual rate of pay offered will be based on a variety of individualized factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s skills, relevant experience, educational background, internal equity, and market considerations.
