About the role

This role is for a Substance Use Counselor who works weekends at Askia, a specialized residential rehabilitation service for substance use patients with co-occurring disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide brief supportive therapy and facilitate psychoeducational groups.
  • Counsel patients individually, in family meetings and in group sessions.
  • Work in collaboration with the case manager to execute referrals and linkages to the appropriate level of care.
  • Perform crisis prevention, intervention and risk assessments and escalate when necessary.
  • Complete required documentation in accordance with agency and DPH/BSAS guidelines.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings.
  • Participate in individual clinical supervision and accumulate hours toward licensure, if applicable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work or a closely related field required.
  • One (1) year experience working in a substance use disorder treatment setting preferred but not required.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a company vehicle required.

Qualifications

  • Licensure as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC, LADC II), Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC) or Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (CADAC) preferred.
  • Masters in Counseling completed or in progress.
  • Masters in Social Work.
  • LCSW or LICSW.
  • Spanish language capability.

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to see and work towards the “big picture.”
  • Flexible and able to juggle multiple priorities.

Pay

The salary target is $26-$31/hr depending on licensure and experience.

Schedule

This role is expected to work every weekend. Hours may vary though the available shift is 11am-7pm.
