About the Role

We’re seeking a dynamic, collaborative leader with strong communication and problem-solving skills to advance mental health initiatives across districts and schools. In this role, you’ll help design and implement effective mental health systems, equip educators with vital resources, and build district-wide networks that support every student’s success. Responsibilities

  • Lead and support districts in curriculum, instruction, assessment, tiered levels of support, district/school improvement, leadership development, and systems thinking related to mental health.
  • Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including district staff, school administrators, multidisciplinary teams, curriculum councils, and community groups, on programs, curriculum, and mental health supports.
  • Resource map Oakland County community health services to support a comprehensive, cohesive plan that meets the needs of all students.
  • Guide districts in establishing mental health systems, including:
    • Supporting social-emotional practices (with emphasis on CASEL).
    • Assisting with community mental health services.
    • Providing leadership in developing and supporting Behavioral Health Assessment Teams.
    • Aligning mental health work to a multi-tiered system of support.
  • Offer strategic and technical expertise in mental health and funding mechanisms to strengthen district-wide systems and improve student achievement and well-being.
  • Support state compliance, helping districts implement and document required practices and grants.
  • Consult and coordinate activities that drive continuous improvement in mental health systems.
  • Serve as a liaison to external partners, including the Michigan Department of Education, universities, professional organizations, and community-based agencies.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a field directly related to mental health required. Doctorate degree preferred.
  • 4 or more years of related experience, including experience working in diverse schools/districts.
  • Valid certificate/licensure in a related field (Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work).

  • Collaborative Leadership: Build strong relationships with educators and leaders to deliver effective social-emotional and mental health services.
  • Preferred experience with: Trauma-Informed Practices, ACEs, Restorative Practices, and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curricula (e.g., Michigan Model for Health); PREPaRE, I Love U Guys, Behavior Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM), Positive Behavioral Interventions Supports (PBIS).

This position is eligible to participate in the Summer Flexible Work Program, which permits employees to perform their job duties for up to two days a week from a designated alternative location during the summer months.

Pay & Schedule

  • $102,988 - $119,435 salary based on relevant prior work experience, with the potential to earn up to $128,618 after employment with Oakland Schools.
  • Exempt position / 12-month work year.
