Mental Health Consultant
Inmate Mental Health Services
Provide and assist in coordinating comprehensive mental health services for inmates.
Policy Development
Collaborate on developing and implementing mental health policies, procedures, and services at the facility.
Interagency Collaboration
Work alongside other agencies to ensure professional mental health services are provided to inmates.
Staff Training
Coordinate and deliver in-service training related to mental health and inmate services for staff members as needed.
Continuous Learning
Attend relevant training sessions coordinated by the Director of Staff Development, which may require travel to various locations.
Qualifications
- 2+ years in correctional, forensic, or mental health treatment.
- Bachelor's degree in clinical or counseling psychology and a Master's degree in clinical or counseling psychology preferred.
- A valid state driver’s license is required.
- CSAC- Certified Substance Abuse Counselor certification is preferred.
- Proficiency in detecting potential behavioral problems and referring inmates for appropriate treatment.
- Expertise in group and individual counseling techniques.
- Thorough understanding of community-based resources, mental disorders, diagnostic nomenclature, and intervention approaches suitable for a correctional environment.
