Mental Health Clinician, Acute Care Team - St George MHS

About the role

The role involves working as part of the Acute Care Mental Health Team at St George Mental Health Service. You will provide acute care and crisis services to mental health clients in the St George catchment area, or those presenting to the emergency department of St George Hospital. This is a challenging role aimed at individuals looking to develop their skills and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive mental health assessments, risk assessment, safety planning, and collaborative care and discharge planning.
  • Engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery through demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters, commensurate with years of experience.
  • Use computer skills and health information systems effectively.
  • Apply mental health principles of consumer-focused and strengths-based practices in acute community mental health settings.

Requirements

  • Qualifications in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing, and current registration with relevant bodies.
  • Experience in acute mental health settings and working with people with acute mental illnesses.
  • Proven experience in multi-disciplinary team environments and the ability to exercise independent professional judgment.
  • Computer skills and proficiency in health information systems.
  • Understanding of mental health principles and consumer-focused practices.
  • Current Drivers License.

Qualifications

If you are an overseas qualified Social Worker, you are required to have your qualifications assessed by the AASW to meet the position criteria.

Skills

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

$38.51- $59.39 per hour, plus superannuation.

Schedule
