Responsibilities
- Observes and assists assigned mental health patients and helps with daily living activities, therapeutic activities, and socialization.
- Responsible for the overall maintenance of a therapeutic environment in the psychiatric unit and to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
- Attends and participates in group therapy, in-service education, and staff meetings.
- Performs and records information about patients including vital signs, weight, glucose monitoring, and demeanor.
- May communicate with the patient's family as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- At least 1-3 years of relevant experience.
Skills
- Good oral and written communication skills; ability to follow up on information with staff members.
- Ability to organize workday and environment to get the job done.
- Excellent public contact skills—courteous, tactful, friendly, and the ability to work well with others.
- Ability to handle multiple requests and work in a stressful environment.
