Brief Description MISSON, VISION & VAULES Support the agency’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan philosophyManage all responsibilities based on the agency's mission, using individual choice, and all appropriate policies, procedures, and regulations.Conduct oneself in a way that reflects the highest standards of professional courtesy and ethical practices to people served, staff, guardians, families, and all outside contacts The Mental Health Associate (MHA) will work within Behavioral Health Services, under the guidance/supervision of a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) or Mental Health Professional (MHP). The MHA will participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team working with individuals who have dual diagnosis, having both intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) and mental health needs. The MHA may be involved in both individual and/or group therapy support. Requirements Education/Experience Requirements High school diploma or GED. Must be 21 years of age. Must pass a background check. Valid driver’s license or State ID. One year experience supporting, educating, and advocating for individuals living with intellectual/developmental disabilities. One year experience providing direct service in a mental health program setting. Competency Requirements Ability to multi-task. Effective time management skills. Professional interpersonal skills. Strong ethical conduct. Strong leadership skills. General knowledge of effective coping skills to help alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety, and other mental health diagnoses. General knowledge of standard office equipment such as computers, copy machines, fax machines, telephone systems, and other telecommunication devices. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office systems and ability to document within program software. Successful completion of MHA Competency Based Training Activities (CBTA) within first 90 days. Summary The Mental Health Associate (MHA) - delivers community, home and office-based services that promote independence, daily living skills, healthy coping strategies, and community involvement. The role also involves collaborating with multiple teams, families, and healthcare providers, maintaining accurate documentation, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and mandated reporting requirements, while building therapeutic relationships through empathy, communication, and problem-solving skills.
