Mental Health Associate

Responsibilities

• Assist the licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care including assistance with activities of daily living.
• Perform therapeutic interventions with clients, such as group therapy, one-on-one counseling, or crisis intervention.
• Support the unit functions and maintain a safe, therapeutic and clean environment for patients, visitors and co-workers.
• Functions as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team and communicate pertinent patient information to the supervising RN.
• Performs some clerical duties as assigned and provides basic nursing care for the children, adolescents, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Utilizes education to provide designated group modality to patients and individual observations to assigned patients to assist them to learn new coping skills, identify issues that cause conflict in relationships and develop strategies for resolving conflicts.
• Provides emotional support to patients during difficult times by listening to their concerns, empathizing with their feelings, and helping them find solutions to their problems.
• Makes sure patients’ progress throughout treatment to ensure that they are compliant with their plans and provides pertinent team meeting information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree Required
• Current BCLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Behavioral Violence Prevention within 6 months of hire and maintain current annually.
• One (1) year prior mental health experience preferred.
• Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred.

Pay

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $20.00/Hr. to $27.00/Hr. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
