Responsibilities

• Develop and implement components of the institution’s quality assurance/improvement program (e.g., chart reviews, restraint utilization, and high-risk incident reviews).
• Plan, implement, and evaluate behavioral health services for eligible clients/inmates, including goals, programs, policies, and procedures.
• Manage work schedules within the behavioral health operation, as needed.
• Collect and report data and statistics for monthly reports.
• May be assigned responsibility for a designated area of service delivery, including coordination of a particular programmatic area.
• Supervise assigned staff.
• Process and approve timesheets and leave forms for assigned staff.
• Perform clinical duties as assigned and within the scope of applicable licenses and state laws.
• Assist in the management of the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Manage purchasing, procurement, and behavioral health operation’s resources.
• Participate in personnel management tasks (e.g., recruitment, interviewing, and recommendations for hiring).
• Maintain necessary data documents required by the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC).
• Comply with all facility and DRC policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Attend meetings.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with other facilities and agencies.
• Conduct in-service training.
• Participate in continuing education programs.
• Attend conferences, workshops, and meetings as directed.
• Perform other related duties and security functions as required.
• Participate in audits as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

24 months of experience in development and implementation of treatment/habilitation plans for individuals who are mentally ill or developmentally disabled, and working as part of an interdisciplinary team to assess individuals' needs and abilities.

Additionally, one of the following:

• 12 months of experience as a lead worker providing work direction and training for other employees;
• 12 months of training or experience in state and/or federal regulations and standards governing care, custody, and programming of consumers/residents in mental health or developmental centers;
• 6 months of experience in writing or assisting in the development of policies, procedures, goals, and objectives of an operational unit or program of an agency or firm;
• 1 course in manpower planning or 3 months of experience scheduling staff to ensure adequate coverage or projecting adequate staff levels;
• 3 months of training in budgeting or 3 months of experience preparing or assisting in the preparation of a budget for an operational unit or program of an agency or firm.

OR

Completion of an undergraduate core program in mental health and developmental disabilities technology, social work, or a comparable field (e.g., child and family community services), special education, psychology, or rehabilitation, plus:

• 12 months of experience as a lead worker providing work direction and training for other employees;
• 12 months of training or experience in state and/or federal regulations and standards governing care, custody, and programming of consumers/residents in mental health or developmental centers;
• 6 months of experience in writing and/or assisting in the development of policies, procedures, goals, and objectives of an operational unit or program of an agency or firm;
• 1 course in manpower planning or 3 months of experience scheduling staff to ensure adequate coverage or projecting adequate staff levels;
• 3 months of training in budgeting or 3 months of experience preparing or assisting in the preparation of a budget for an operational unit or program of an agency or firm.

OR

6 months of experience as a Mental Health Administrator 2, 65222.

OR

Equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
