Memory Care Director

About the Role

At Tuscan Gardens of Palm Coast, we place a high emphasis on the overall wellbeing of our residents and believe in providing excellent care and customer service. As the Memory Care Director, you will oversee the overall management and day-to-day operations of the memory care neighborhood, ensuring outstanding services for residents, families, and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Maintains an organized and diversified program of individual and group activities to engage residents in cultural, spiritual, physical, social, and intellectual activities.
• Supervises and delegates tasks to team members within the memory care neighborhood.
• Effectively communicates verbally and in writing with team members, families, and residents via Caremerge and other mechanisms.
• Conducts quarterly resident surveys to evaluate and suggest new activities.
• Prepares and reviews a Schedule of Activities one month in advance, amending as necessary.
• Ensures a full activity program is offered seven days a week.
• Drives the community vehicle.
• Maintains resident birthday lists and mails birthday cards in a timely manner.
• Collaborates with the Wellness Director regarding resident care needs and clinical changes.
• Participates in the wellness review process of potential new residents.
• Organizes and coordinates wellness conferences for residents on a quarterly basis.
• Maintains records of resident program attendance and engagement in Caremerge.
• Posts the current monthly and daily Schedule of Activities in public areas.
• Implements Salus Signature programs and integrates them into the monthly calendar.
• Develops care and programming assignments and distributes them to team members.
• Holds team members accountable for completion of work assignments.
• Provides dementia and Valeo training to all community team members.
• Participates in new hire orientation for team members.
• Interviews and hires potential new team members using the Valeo Hiring Guide.
• Attends monthly resident meetings with the General Manager.
• Develops and maintains staffing schedules at least two weeks in advance.
• Ensures coverage of all staffing needs on each shift.
• Creates and maintains records of planned and implemented scheduled programs for six months.
• Meets monthly budget targets for monetary and labor hours.
• Maintains team member attendance records and provides necessary documentation.
• Accommodates special events, evening, and weekend programs in work schedules.
• Follows all emergency and safety procedures.
• Manages team members and volunteers with patience, tact, and enthusiasm.
• Promotes the community in a positive manner and communicates community values effectively.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited college or university, or proof of satisfactory completion of two years of college, with a major in recreation or a related field, or two years of full-time experience in recreation with a senior adult population.
• State driver license with a clean driving record; completion of all HR policies and procedures for community drivers.
• Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
• Basic typing skills and computer knowledge, including familiarity with MS Word and other pertinent software.
• Physically able to bend, reach, push, pull, lift up to 40-50 pounds, and stand for extended periods.
