Memory Care Activities Director

About the Role

Oversee the daily operations of the Memory Care Unit, including coordinating programs, activities, services, policies, and procedures to ensure a therapeutic, engaging, and safe environment for all residents. Supervise and manage staff and CNAs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee memory care programs and activities.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for the Memory Care Unit.
• Ensure a therapeutic, engaging, and safe environment for residents.
• Supervise and manage staff, including CNAs.
• Apply working knowledge of dementia disease processes and psychopharmacology.
• Utilize failure-free approaches to activities and ADLs (Activities of Daily Living).
• Make independent decisions as required.
• Interact tactfully with personnel, neighbors, and families.
• Understand and address the social, psychological, physical, and leisure needs of residents in a special care unit.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years' experience caring for individuals with age-related brain disease.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory capacity (preferred).
• Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) preferred but will train.
• Working knowledge of dementia disease processes and psychopharmacology.
• Ability to make independent decisions.
• Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with personnel, families, and neighbors.
