Job Summary
The YMCA of the Suncoast is seeking a Member Service superhero to enhance customer service efforts. The Member Services Representative is expected to greet all members, guests, and program participants, assist with membership changes, and promote memberships.
Responsibilities
- Work toward meeting all requirements of the Member Specialist I position within 60 days from hire date.
- Create a warm and welcoming environment.
- Educate members and prospective members about YMCA services.
- Introduce yourself to all members and get to know their names.
- Conduct tours of the facility to assess members' needs.
- Handle phone inquiries regarding membership and program information.
- Input program registrations into Active.
- Assist members with program questions and inquiries.
- File necessary paperwork as required.
- Help develop and participate in Member Appreciation/Retention activities.
- Aid with annual membership data audit.
- Report suspicious activity related to child abuse or code of conduct violations.
- Keep supplies organized, maintain the facility, and care for equipment.
Requirements
- Must be at least 17 years old.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- College degree with emphasis in Marketing or Communications preferred.
- At least 1-year previous customer service experience required.
- Broad overview of the YMCA as an organization preferred.
- Must complete Intro to Y's Cause & Culture, Ys Way to Service & Engagement, and I Hear You: Service with CARE trainings.
- Must be working towards meeting the criteria of the Member Specialist I position within 60 days of hire date.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred.

Physical and Mental Requirements
- May be required to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.

- Remain professional when dealing with members/customers and co-workers.
- Possess auditory, visual, and verbal abilities to communicate via phone and in person.
