Responsibilities

  • Supports community group operations, including event management (Swoogo) and communications (email).
  • Organizes regular monthly meetings.
  • Develops agenda items with the chair and helps with related documentation.
  • Ensures meeting notes are taken and shared.
  • Collaborates with the chair for setting action items and following up with members.
  • Aids in recruiting and developing committee members as needed.
  • Serves in place of the chair as needed.
  • Plans and coordinates the in-person community group meetings during the annual conference.
  • Facilitates an environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

Qualifications

  • Required: Membership in the association, which can be fulfilled through free general membership for higher education professionals.
  • Think in terms of Association goals.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate with committee members, staff, and other groups.
  • Ability to project manage and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • PREFERRED: Skilled in project management, including planning and executing projects with a team.
  • Supports orderly procedures for conducting work.
  • Familiarity with the Association.
  • Proficiency with Clickup or similar project management tools.
  • Google Drive proficiency.
  • Swoogo proficiency.

Estimated Time Commitment

The vice chair is expected to virtually attend monthly meetings. The time commitment for this position varies from 2-6 hours per month.

Length of Appointment

Up to two years as vice chair with the expectation to become chair once that position is vacated.

Conference Attendance

Annual conference attendance is required. Conference registration is waived for this position.
