Member Specialist
About the role
Provides member service, maintains the checkout and entrance/exit areas, resolves member issues and concerns, and promotes Sam’s Club products and services. Assists members with purchasing decisions, locating merchandise, and using self-service technology. Processes purchases, returns, refunds, and exchanges according to company policies and procedures for different membership and payment types. Helps secure and safeguard Sam’s Club assets and property by observing and communicating potential criminal activity. Maintains required documentation, executes emergency response procedures, and ensures compliance with company security and safety practices. Trains and mentors Member Frontline Services associates on processes, procedures, and new technology; supports continuous learning and process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Provides member service and guidance on self-service technology.
- Processes member purchases and handles returns, refunds, and exchanges per company policies.
- Conducts safety sweeps, corrects unsafe situations, and reports hazards to facility management.
- Maintains entrance, checkout, and exit areas; zones and arranges merchandise.
- Acknowledges members, verifies membership cards, and identifies member needs.
- Assists members with transporting items and locating merchandise.
- Reviews member receipts and ensures compliance with company security and safety practices.
- Secures and safeguards Sam’s Club assets and property by observing and reporting suspicious activity.
- Maintains required paperwork, logs, and documentation.
- Executes emergency response procedures as trained.
- Trains and mentors associates on company processes, new technology, and program rollouts.
- Identifies shrink and damages; ensures proper handling of returns.
- Complies with company policies, standards of ethics, and integrity; uses the Open Door Policy.
- Completes work assignments by using policies, data, and resources; collaborates with managers, co-workers, and members; adapts to change and feedback.
Skills
- Retail experience including operating front-end equipment (e.g., cash register).
- Experience working with mobile retail applications.

Pay
The hourly wage range for this position is $18.00 to $26.00. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the applicable minimum wage. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may apply, ranging from $0.35 to $3.00 per hour depending on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed; multiple premiums may apply if criteria are met.
