About the role

CoVantage Credit Union is seeking a full-time Member Solutions Collections Supervisor to provide leadership and direction to the Member Solutions Consumer Specialist staff. This role implements approved collection policies and procedures to ensure the appropriate handling of high-risk loans while minimizing losses and collection expenses. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Member Solutions department policies and procedures consistent with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate and delegate workload while providing mentorship, coaching, and support to Consumer Specialists, including routine one-on-one training.
  • Organize time and resources to ensure effective use of consumer collectors’ time working with members and following up on accounts.
  • Ensure self and staff remain up-to-date on credit union policies, legal aspects of collecting, filing insurance claims, sending demands and right-to-cure notices, and collection laws including FDCPA and bankruptcy laws.
  • Work required late-night shifts per week and Saturdays as indicated on the Member Solutions schedule.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or 5 years’ experience in consumer collections and/or loan processing/servicing or other customer service within a financial institution.
  • Valid driver’s license, as some travel is required.
  • Knowledge of Bankruptcy laws (Chapter 7 and 13) and experience working with bankruptcy situations and attorneys.
  • General knowledge of federal and state collection laws and regulations.
  • Exposure to the liquidation of foreclosed property and possession of collateral on commercial and consumer loans.
  • Basic understanding of repossession law and requirements.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory/management experience desired.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in direct, professional contact with a wide variety of people daily.
  • General understanding of handling small claims actions for a financial institution.
  • Candidates able to read, write, and speak Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply.
