Member of the Technical Staff, Generative
About the role
Output is revolutionizing drug treatments by developing generative models that understand biology at the molecular level. Led by a team of experienced researchers and biotech veterans, this role involves designing and developing architectures for molecular data, from small molecules to peptides and mini proteins. The ideal candidate will be responsible for training models on distributed GPU clusters, evaluating results, and integrating biological reasoning into the generative pipeline.
Responsibilities
- Design and build generative architectures for molecular data across multiple modalities
- Develop training approaches that learn from diverse biological signals
- Build methods for controllable, targeted generation of novel molecules
- Integrate biological reasoning from the foundation model into the generative pipeline
- Own the full research-to-training pipeline, including experiment design, distributed training, hyperparameter optimization, and iteration
- Design evaluation frameworks to assess the biological significance, structural validity, and novelty of generated molecules
Requirements
- PhD in computer science, machine learning, physics, mathematics, or a related field with 2+ years of post-doctoral or industry research experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree with 5+ years of hands-on research and engineering experience in generative modeling
- Strong publication record in generative methods at top-tier venues
- Extensive hands-on experience designing, building, and training deep generative models
- Proficiency in Python and PyTorch, and experience with distributed multi-GPU infrastructure
- Rigorous experimentalist with a track record of designing and evaluating models effectively
- Production-quality code with good testing and maintainability practices
Qualifications
- Experience applying generative models to molecular, chemical, or biological data
- Background in chemistry, biology, computational biology, biophysics, or a related natural science
- Experience with multi-modal learning or cross-modality translation
- Experience with conditional or controllable generation methods
- Contributions to open-source machine learning projects
