Responsibilities

Lead Melting process installations (Rebuilds)

Support and provide guidance through the fabrication, installation and construction activities and provide start-up assistance of the melting process equipment

Promote “good” project management practices in the melt technology area

Adapt new equipment installation technologies as needed and justified

Investigate and recommend equipment modifications to technology area design team

Manage logistics of incoming equipment orders

Be the first point of contact between the vendors and the project team

Provide onsite support at vendors (Internal and External) throughout the fabrication process and final checkout

Provide the project or task with sound innovative thinking, problem solving skills while staying customer focused

Provide direction and guidance to develop/strengthen installation competencies to all team members

Provide CAD support as needed

Requirements

Travel is required to Corning’s worldwide operations. Frequency and duration vary according to project stage and status.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (ceramic, chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical)
  • 5 or more years of experience in construction, design engineering, maintenance, manufacturing, process engineering or a combination of these

Skills

  • Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills, with the ability to handle changing priorities
  • Strong hands on application skills with a focus on construction and installation of manufacturing equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and apply to field installations
  • Project management and organizational skills
  • Results oriented; delivery of tasks to project schedules
  • Effective communication and working in a global environment; across research, development, engineering, commercial, and operations worldwide
  • Ability to work effectively as technical member of a larger project team
  • Support of and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures as they apply to installations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
