MEL TN Harness Technician

About the Role

This position is responsible for assembling wire harnesses and/or panels from components as well as sub-assemblies, ensuring a high degree of quality with few defects and within labor time requirements.

Responsibilities

• Understands and demonstrates safety as the first priority in all work-related activities.
• Produces a variety of harnesses and power panels (kitting, pre-plugging, and assembly) using assembly boards, work instructions, drawings, production schedules, and execution guidelines.
• Capable of building all harness designs regardless of size, complexity, or content.
• Performs sub-assembly of switches and switch components.
• Installs wire assemblies into panel sub-assemblies.
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
• Tests completed harness assemblies using “on-board” test processes.
• Troubleshoots and diagnoses outputs of the “on-board test” and corrects identified defects.
• Works with minimum supervision.
• Identifies defects from upstream suppliers that affect specific assembly or overall product quality.
• Accurately measures lengths and densities using a ruler or tape measure.
• Cleans and packages products in accordance with published methodologies and standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts using standardization formulae.
• Strong problem-solving and logical reasoning skills.
• Ability to address a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Physical Demands

• Stands for 9 hours per shift.
• Walks for 1 hour per shift.
• Lifts and/or carries up to 10-15 lbs frequently and occasionally.
• Performs repetitive activities with hands, including simple grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation (constant use of both hands).
• Frequent use of feet for repetitive activities (both right and left).
• Frequent bending at the waist and occasional squatting, climbing ladders/stairs, kneeling, and reaching above shoulder.

Work Environment

• Closed-toed and heeled shoes required.
• Safety glasses required in some areas.
• Typical 10-hour workdays with occasional/frequent overtime depending on operational needs.
